Aiyana Rennie is an RCM Scholar and undergraduate at the Royal College of Music in London, studying double bass with Rodrigo Moro Martín London Symphony Orchestra Principal and Enno Senft Chamber Orchestra of Europe Principal and Founding Member.

Aiyana’s expertise and extensive experience for her age are widely acknowledged. She recently performed with Sinfonia Cymru Ankaben: Sidiki Dembélé 2024 tour. In 2023 completed Professional Development with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra Royal Northern Sinfonia, and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra members of the Consortium of Orchestras together with Black Lives in Music. Aiyana was selected for the Royal Opera House London 2023/2024 season Overture Mentoring Programme mentored by ROH Orchestra Principal Marco Behtash. 

Aiyana performs regularly with the Chineke! Orchestra, most recent performances include the 2024 BBC Proms, Lucerne Festival Switzerland, and the Cultural Harmonies European tour performances include Berlin Konzert Haus Berlin, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg and Brussels Henry Le Boeuf Hall. Chineke! Behind Closed Doors Concerts at the London Southbank Royal Festival Hall in 2020. Notable performances include the 2023 BRIT Awards with Stormzy, Exodus: Bob Marley Reimagined, a partnership between Island Records and BBC marking the 60th anniversary of Jamaican Independence, Max Richter’s VOICES and The Four Seasons Recomposed at the Royal Hospital Chelsea and Alicia Keys Queen Charlotte NETFLIX.

In 2024, Aiyana won the Principal position of the Miami Beach Classical Music Festival, a selective international summer programme of groundbreaking immersive symphonic and opera performances, and was selected for the 2023 National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute in Washington, D.C., USA.

Aiyana began learning the double bass when she was 9 years old at the Royal College of Music’s Junior Department as a member of the Mini Bass Programme. When she turned 12, she attended the Yehudi Menuhin School, and in 2020 she continued her studies at Chetham’s School of Music. Since 2016, Aiyana has been an active performer in various orchestral groups. She was a member of the National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain for four consecutive years from 2016 to 2019…
